Default First Mod Rear View Backup Camera

Happy Easter everyone. I just completed my first mod on my 2012 1500 Express. I installed a rearview mirror backup camera. I wasn't ready to pull the radio out and install an aftermarket unit yet. So I settled on a rearview backup camera. Took me a while to find one that looked OEM and wasn't some clip on unit.

Install was easy just tapped the reverse from the tpim white/red strip wire and ignition + and ground under the dash. For the camera I used the +/- on the 7 way trailer connector. Followed my video cable along the harness going all the way to the tailgate.

Parts used:

Rearview Monitor SV-9153 - They are all over ebay but I found one at a local audio place.

Rear Camera SV-6922.LM.II - Again all over ebay. Comes with enough video cable to reach the rear of a Quad Cab. Just needed another 3ft to tidy everything up. Also includes mounting bracket and a hole saw for a flush fit.

Nice mod
Is it confusing backing up though ?
I use my interior & exterior mirrors while backing
I use my radio monitor to check for anything that the mirrors can't see, it covers the blind spots for things like kids & toys

Thanks, I use my side mirrors to backup since I'm usually towing or hauling something that blocks my rear window. I wanted it for the same reasons and to line up my trailer hitch which worked perfect. I get what your saying though, I guess I would need more time with it to tell. It does allow you to turn it off though

Not sure about nice but very easy to do. Just simple things but all to make it my own and it will continue a very very long term project I think

Nice setup if you don't have the touch screen radio or Uconnect on mirror. I like it.

Sorry that should read TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) I'm sure someone can explain it better but basically it is the computer for pretty much every electrical component on the truck.

Nice mod. I did something similar, but have not been real happy with my visual input on the mirror monitor that I chose.

How is the view on yours? What monitor did you go with? Would you mind providing a link?

Thanks

Exco
