Default Quick question on Magnaflows

Hey there guys, quick question about Magnaflow for my 2010 Ram TRX-4. I'm thinking about going with a Magnaflow on the Mufflex kit (or just buying the muffler and doing it myself for cheaper), but can't make up my mind as to whether I want to go with the 18" with the resonator in place, or the larger (22"? 24"?) muffler with the resonator removed.

I want a nice aggressive, but mellow sound. I don't want my truck to be too loud, I've already got loud covered with my 2000 Camaro SS with a 408. Prime concerns would be drone at highway speed, and sound while in MDS/ECO mode. If it's gonna sound like total crap in 4 cylinder mode, I'll keep the stock setup.

I haven't had much luck finding many videos of trucks with the single exhaust in the first place, let alone with the 18" muffler, and especially with the larger muffler (and about 0 with that muffler and no resonator).

Thanks, and sorry if this is a repeat question

Don't have single exhaust, but my 18" maggy has the perfect balance of volume and tone, IMO. Absolutely no noticeable drone. I think the 22" might be a little too quiet, and if you remove the resonators you might get some drone. My vote is for 18" w/ resonators.

I love my 22", sounds muscular but not loud, love the fact i can have decent convo's with everyone in the cab, also have it dumped after axle to eliminate the drone. Any piping after that will cause drone. And i run dual cutouts in case some one rolls up and wants to do a loud contest...

I have the mufflex dod14m. It has the 14" magnaflow. I am selling it because I want it louder. It is not LOUD at all. It has a deep agressive growl when you get into it at 2k RPMs. But under 2 it's very mellow and deep. It has a nice deep mellow tone at startup also. My mufflex has about 1200 miles on it. 175$ + shipping

not loud enough? should consider cutouts, that way you have options on the fly..I regretted having a loud exhaust..sounded cool at the beginning but it got old really quick.

Haha I had dual straight pipes on my last truck 5.9l for 5 years, loved it couldn't get enough of it! I will be getting true dual super 10's at my buddy's exhaust shop. I met a guy with that setup on a hemi and loved it!

I have a 14" welded in with stock resonators and sounds like I wanted it to. Loud enough when I step on it but I can still talk on the phone when I am heading out to jobs and no drone. Although before I turned the mds off it did sound weird to me. I don't care for the mds myself though so it could be me. It felt weird to me and honestly I didn't notice any loss in mpg. Maybe cause my truck had 110k and its a 09 but I know the exhaust sound better and I don't need the tow mode anymore for my small trailer.

Whatever you decide, make sure to post the results/vids. I have the same question. Most all vids are dual exhaust modified. I too have single exhaust (Outdoorsman). It sounds somewhat aggressive already. The resonator is tiny. We only have 1 resonator -- where duals have 2. Thus, I'm worried an aftermarket muffler will be louder for us? I'll let OP be the guinea pig.
