Default Installed the console vault..few pics

Took about 5 minutes to install. Good product has some weight to it not cheap flimsy metal. When you open it with the key it is spring loaded so you don't have to pull up on it. It will deter the average thief from wasting too much time trying to break the console apart. I'm going to line the sides of the inner box with some type of protection so I don't damage any other metal products that I store there.

I guess this depends on where you live.drive to. and personal application of the truck. I'd imagine it'll work great for a work truck where the cab is the office. To me, the downside is that it eats up a lot of space and when theft see something this serious, it may promote them from trying even harder. Just my 2 cents.

I doubt it that it will make them try harder, if they have all the time in the world I agree but if they are limited in time which most are and want to be stealthy I don't think they will waste their time. What storage are you loosing there is still a big deep hole there but now it is protected. Car burglaries are opportunistic crimes so anyone can be a victim anywhere in this day and age.

Is there room for a metal object the size of, oh, say a Sig P226?

I think your theory make sense too. I was only trying to list the "Con" side and left out the "Pro" because the "Pros" are so obvious. I have a window broke by theft on an old car and all what they did was taking my $100 portable GPS away, and that cost me $1400 hard earned dollars to fix (they also damage the door). I was walking in downtown one day and see a Ram parked on the street with "No Money Inside!" printed on a paper and sticked to its window. which made me laughing "what has the world become these days". lol. and thanks for sharing especially with pictures and I'm sure it works for you

Here in south Fl you can imagine the car breaks we get. At the gym I go to if you look at the parking lot you see a lot of glass from broken windows and this is in a good area. I figured if they want a wallet that bad and registration they can have at it...lol

I have the smaller one (because of the CD player), and it holds a P229, P239, and 2 7.62 AK mags at the same time. Your P226 will fit with room for at least 500 rounds of ammo.

Nice write-up Tango, I see you went with the keyed version as well. I notice yours has 2 mounting screws on each side, mine only has 1.

Here's a link to my write-up on it:
