Default Headlight Restoration...No more yellow lenses!

Hey folks! I completed a headlight restoration on my Ram today and wanted to share the results. I was going to post it on another forum I belonged to but they have closed it down since my last log in. Oh well, here goes nothing.

I went to Walmart looking for the 3M kit but could not find it. I however did come across a kit made by Crystal View Chemicals. I was quite leery about purchasing this kit because I had no idea who this company was. The devil on my shoulder said why not so I went with it.

The kit was $20 and included wet sand paper, small packages of the rubbing compound and "clear coat". It also included plenty of rubbing cloths and latex gloves.

The instructions were clear and simple. Wet sand with brown paper, wipe, repeat with blue paper, wipe, rub with #1 compound, wipe, spread "clear coat".

The results were more than I expected as demonstrated in the pictures attached.

Thanks for reading and do not hesitate to buy this product if you see it at the store.

Headlight before the treatment.

Headlight after sanding and rubbing compound.

Headlight after all steps completed.

The other headlight.

Thanks. Yes it was totally worth the money. I will be anxious to see how much better my night visibility will be. Was worthless before.

I hate to play devils advocate here but the true test is how long the treatment lasts.

Most don't last any longer than simply buffing the lense with scratch -x or similar.

Okie: We shall see on that. If it doesn't last, they gave me plenty in the package to do it again! Keep sanding till I see bulb! HAHA!

Brandon: Thanks! Looks tons better. Hopefully functions better at night too.

Thumbs up

Great job and write up, thanks for posting. The lights look so much better and I can't believe they would yellow again all that quickly, guess time will tell. Here are some Reps for the pictures and explanation.
