Spent the last half hours reading through this thread.
Wishing somebody had figured out the fault already.
I drive a 2012 Ram Sport with 2000kms on it.
I experience the sound on the drivers side.
Sounds like a worn ball joint or tie rod end.
I have it booked at the dealership for 2weeks from now.
I'm assuming they're going to tell me they cant find it & i gotta live with it.

Over this weekend, I'll take a look at the fenderliner & stuff but i'm doubtful thats the cause.

I had installed a ramair hood on my truck and had the same noise tracked it down to the hood had tightened it all up and everthing is fine now. I would think this might be the problem with the trucks

My first post here.
Brand new 2012 Laramie 4WD with 400 miles: I've got it. I hear it when slowly going over a wash-board, pot-hole or rough road. I believe what most of us are hearing is the front stabilizer links on these trucks. It appears that the links are somewhat weak. A poster in another thread snapped off the head trying to tighten them up. Here is another thread discussing this:
http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....ghlight=rattle
Look at Post #10 on that thread for pic and details.
MOOG (part# K80894) apparently has an updated and beefier stabilizer link for these trucks. With the truck stationary, it would be pretty tough to see, or re-create, the noise, but it sounds exactly like the noise I had in my '03 CTD 3500 and it was the worn-out stabilizer links in that case. Because my work takes me on some pretty rough roughs, I plan on just replacing the stock ones with the MOOGs. Probably do the Belstein 5100 adjustables at the same time.

Default Front end chatter on new Ram

I purchased my 2012 Ram 1500 a week ago and heard a chatter in the front end, passenger side at slow speeds. Took it back to the dealer which they were able to hear the noise but they could not find the problem. I asked the service manager if I can sit in the truck as they try moving different parts in that area of the engine compartment. I was able to hear the noise as he shook the air cleaner box. The tech took it off and put a silicone paste on the rubber grommets of the box then reinstalled it. He shook the box again and now the rattle was gone. It's been 3 days and still no rattle/chatter. Hope this helps.

happy to have seen this thread. I had bilsteins level shocks installed on front @ 1k miles and started noticing the noise. Was thinking of taking truck back to the installer to double check everything. See no need now since other hear the same thing.

Really does sound like worn front end parts....... but the performance is perfect.
Just hit 3,000 miles. Glad i have plenty warranty left but kinda regret gettting the shocks considering noise.......... If the issue continues and I decide to try and remedy via Chrysler it could become a blame game or complicate the matter.
Drives like a dream, just sounds like bad tierods or something and I know it isnt.

Just going to add to this thread. My 2012 quadcab has 7000 miles, and has been at the dealer for 3 days now for a front end rattle and they can't figure it out. They told me a few minutes ago that a Chrysler engineer is going to be there tomorrow to check it out.

Got it back after 4 days. They completely took apart the front end and had to replace both front shock bolts after breaking them. They said they think the problem was a loose body bolt. At any rate, the rattle appears to be gone.

Default front end chatter

I had this problem coming from passenger side front. it was the plastic wheel well liner it was hitting in several spots so I trimmed it with a razor knife, noise is gone.
