Default Turn the key,...Click under truck ...Hmmm

Well it seems the gremlins are having a go at me. About 2 weeks ago I went to start my trucm and nothing. I turn the key and can hear an audible click somewhere under the truck. I checked it out while my Grandson turned the key, seems to be coming from somewhere near the starter. If I keep after it it will eventually start.
Talked to my Service guy, he advised to carry both sets of my keys, to try the other key if it does it, to rule out a key issue. So when I ruled that out after it did it last wednesday, called John up and he said bring it in. I dropped it off on Friday, they gave me a brand new Rav 4 with 600 miles on it for a loaner, and I went home. They checked it out on the machine and found no errors. They did the obvious stuff by tightening cables, and nothing wrong. So I turned the loaner in and got it back today, lets see what happens.
Has anyone else had this issue with the 2012? Just curious.

I don't think I have that same problem. I don't hear a click. All I get is the door chime and thats it. No dash lights, no click, no nothing. It's happened three times in two months. Very intermittent. I'm trying to narror the problem down before I take my truck to the stealership and they tell me they cant duplicate the problem. I havent tried the other key yet, but I will next time. Paul

Just happened to me for the first time today. After getting gas I go back in the truck, turned the key and all I got was a click!! I was like you got to be kidding, truck is not even a year old and has 4500 miles. After trying it about 5 times it finally turned over without hesitation. Strange part is when I had the key on the "on" position all gauges were reading fine, voltage was right in the middle where it should be. All connections were checked and they're all tight, hopefully it won't happen again.

OK ...So my truck did it again. Click Click Click...nothing..This time no start at all...So called Chrysler towing, they came and got it and took it to my Dealer. I think i have figured out what is causing it at least. Anyone with the same problem, here it is. Every time this has happened I have either been driving in the rain or gone through the car wash. (car wash includes bottom blast too) This time it happened on my Wedding Anniversary and tomorrow is my birthday so tonight we were gonna pack up and go spend the night in Bangor It is about an hour away, wife has Dr. appt in the AM and I got one at the VA as well) ..ahhhhnnnnnnn ...wrong answer ......which sucks. So ...gotta call the dealerr at 7 am get a loaner for the DR and VA then come home and wait for it to get fixed. The loaners they provide would not look too good after a trip to our camp. Its 40 miles of bad road to the pond and they usually give me a Toyota RAV or van. not good enough for that ride. Wellllll I guess its hurry up and wait again. Will keep you all posted. And for anyone with the same clicking issue, rain? car wash? lemme know.

Well, I got my loaner (chevy malibu with 4500 miles on it) and talked to the service dept. to find out what is gonna be done. The said the guy that they want to handle it wont be in until Monday. I did not act pleased about it but said well do what you have to and call me when it's fixed. In the mean time i am counting the days down. So far I have a total of 6 days down time with this issue and nothing resolved yet. Can you say 9 more days and new truck, go lemon law...Actually attatched to my truck so hope this gets resolved. So this afternoon when I went back in to grab some stuff from the console they said the guy will be coming in tomorrow for half a day. Hmmmm..they want it fixed too. Awesome. I did mention to the service dept. what I thought it was and got kinda blown off. I said solenoid and water issue..he said " I dont think so, we have had a few computer issues with the 2012s so it is probably that." I will just wait it out and see what it is then. Later all

So my service guy called and said they have decided to change out the starter. They could not find any codes etc...but they think it is the starter. It will go on Monday and then we see if that was the culprit. Wish me luck BTW this will make 10 days out of commission since I bought it, all for the same issue.

Ok so I called to check on my truck just now, they have been open 4 hours and my truck was scheduled for starter change this morning and that being a simple change out I thought they would be done. Service guy says they have changed their mind and think it is a ground issue now that they have thought about it, and the guy working on it will be back on it around 2 pm. Sooooo..they will call this afternoon and let me know where we sit. Well I know where I am gonna be sitting, in the seat of a freakin loaner car. I am less than impressed atm. Almost time to start making some noise, if I dont get my truck back today. Will keep you posted.

Did not get my truck back today so going on 11 days now. I am not pleased. Who do I have to call to let them know at Chrysler that I am way less than impressed at losing this much time with a brand new truck for same issue? (first time it had 3000 miles or so now has 11000 and still same issue) And to top it off my salesman that sold it to me called today with a belated Birthday wish and tell me my truck is almost 6 months old so anniversary coming up ...i said awesome ..tell the guys in the service dept. they have had it for days again for the starting issue...hmmm hawww...Hope your day gets better Chuck. Click.... Sadly it is not the salesmans fault, hes actually a family friend. So tomorrow I find out if its fixed and then if not I start with the squeaky wheel to Daimler Chrysler. Wish me luck.
