Question standard trans question

im looking to do a standard tranny swap in my truck my question is i have a 97 ram can i use a tranny out of any year ram from 94-01 or do i have to get one from a 96-97 ram cause i kno 94-95 is obd1 an 98-01 they use a diff computer can anyone help me out with this?

You need a transmission out of a 96-01. 96 was OBD2 and sometime in the late 90's and early 00's was OBD3. 96 Was a new year for computers not only was it OBD2 but they got rid of SBEC and went to JTEC.
