I took the festoon out of my dome in the 4th gen and put it in u dads 3rd gen and it flickered so I'm betting it's a majority of a 3rd gen thing too

Wish I would have found this thread a lil sooner. Threw out a few and bought new ones. Guess I could have solved the problem rather simply. Know from this point forward. Great write up!

Well I installed my led's and tried the resistors and I had a few problems. For my cargo bulbs they are always on no matter what. I tried to solder a resistor to them and then they wouldn't fit in the slot enough to hold them in, and even with the resistor in I still had that glow (when I held bulb in pace). Anyone have any ideas? The truck is a 3rd gen 2003

Any ideas at all? I am thinking maybe put the resisters inline on the (+) side, as that would also cause a draw.

I have LEDs in the blinkers of my trans am, cobalt as, and had them in my trailblazer. For blinkers resistors are a pita and found they do heat up or did on my 1st install years ago in my trans am. Easy fix take the junk blinked box out from the truck and buy a electronic version at any auto parts store. Think my blinked modules were like $5 an electric flasher works off the power from the blinker and has nothing to do with the resistance of the bulbs so it works with anything from normal to.led with no fast flash ever. Fastest, easiest, and honestly the safest way is the electronic flasher modules.

Oh and as far as cargo or other switched lights not sure what kind you guys are using but I have never needed a resistor on and interior or marker lights. Mine are all 194 style bulbs.

What about for an aftermarket third? Mine keeps blowing the fuse and I came across this thread. Any ideas on what size resistor I should try?

Okay guys...I bought a 2009 4x4 Lariet with 60k miles, I want to do the obvious things that others want to do...HID lights (which ones to use?), interior LED's (problems with LED's compatibility with truck so must use/solder resistors), blinker, brake lights, etc...it seems like it is not as simple as going on a website (which website?) and ordering bulbs...is there anything online or this forum that a person could read in regard to a certain year truck and putting in LED tail lights, blinker lights, interior lights? I am surfing all around and am driving myself crazy...what to order, what to make sure I have on hand, etc, etc...I cant be the only one, am I? Thanks, Kevin
