Default 4WD selector knob

Hey, guyz.

Hope that I am posting this to the correct section/subsection.
If not, let me know and I will move it to a better one (or Mods, pls feel free to do so).

I am installing an aftermarket sound system in my '08 Ram 1500, and really need to move the 4WD selector knob from it's OEM location over to the passenger-side opening.
My concerns are:
1) The mechanical "Neutral" button; and,
2) Whether or not I will find enough 'extra' wiring to stretch over to the other opening to be able to move the knob.

Anyone ever done this?
All hints, tips, suggestions greatly appreciated!

Never tried it but if you can cut the loom back enough to free up the wires to move over you should be fine. If they need extension I would find a wreck yard and take the switch and cut back as much wire as possible. That way you can use the two factory connectors and not have to cut your harness.

I thought about doing this too, for my bass boost knob but ended up mounting it in the ashtray and it turned out nice.

Thanks for the response/info; appreciate it!

Hoping to also hear from someone who has been brave enough to actually move the selector switch, as I would really like to do so for my sound system install...just skeered to without knowing that it can be done without major glitches!
