Post Dual Alpine Type R's under rear seat. Impossible??

First off this is my first thread so I'm still learning how to use everything. I love my two alpine type r subs but I'm not enough to have a box sitting in my truck taking up two seats. So i planned on having a custom box made to house them under the rear seats. Every stereo shop i called said it cant be done. Any one done this? Either way I'm going to give it a shot and make my own box if i have to.

You must be asking the wrong people. Fox Acoustics makes boxes for trucks not sure if yours will be included but even eBay will most likely have some options. Either way a custom audio shop should be able to fabricate you one to fit perfectly.

Just buy a fox box. Most stereo shops are full of sh*t. They push what they sell and anything else is crap in there eyes.

The big question is: what size subs are you looking to put under there? 10s fit no problem, but 12s create more headaches.

The alpine type R 12's are pretty shallow. They will fit and have enough airspace if you use a fox box.

I think to use the fox box you have to have the newer 12" Type R as they are shallower. But the Type R's are one of the subs they actually recommend to put in their box so you can fit two back there no problem.

i have 12" type R's. I'm pretty sure they are 8 7/16" deep. Will those fit in a fox box? I've never heard of those, I'll have to look them up.

Heres the info from Fox box and the link: http://www.foxacoustics.com/ProductD...%2D212%2DV

"DQC-212-V
2002-UP RAM QUAD CAB
WILL NO FIT IN THE MEGA CAB!

2-12" VENTED SUB BOX
AIR VOLUME: 1.55 CUBIC FEET PER SIDE
DIVIDED: YES
PORT/VENT TUNE FREQUENCY: 35 Hz
MAX FRAME SIZE: 13"
MOUNTING HOLE SIZE: 11.125"
MOUNTING DEPTH: 7.25" WITH A 6.5" DIAMETER MAGNET
FINISH AND COLOR: SPRAY COATED WITH BLACK LINE-X BED LINER

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE SUB BOX FOR DODGE RAM QUAD AND CREW CAB TRUCKS.
IT IS PORTED SO IT WILL PLAY LOW DEEP BASS WHILE THE 1.55 CUBIC FEET WILL KEEP THE SUB SNAPPY AND TIGHT FOR CLEAN HARD HITTING BASS. "THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS"

OUR MOUNTING DEPTH AND MAGNET SIZE IS LISTED SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN IT ACTUALLY IS TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.
SUBS WITH LARGE BULKY CAST FRAMES MAY NOT FIT.
WE RECOMMEND PURCHASING THE SUB BOX FIRST AND BRINGING IT TO THE STEREO SHOP TO CHECK THE FIT OF LARGE SUBS.

THE SUB BOX IS SHIPPED IN TWO PACKAGES. THE UPPER PORTION OF THE BOX IS IN ONE PACKAGE AND THE TWO MOLDED PODS, SPACERS, INSTRUCTION SHEET AND SCREWS ARE IN THE OTHER PACKAGE. THE PODS SIMPLY SCREW TO THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX.
YOU CAN USE SILICONE OR CAULK WHEN PUTTING THEM TOGETHER BUT IT IS NOT NECESSARY AND IS NOT INCLUDED.

4- 5/8" SEAT SPACERS ARE INCLUDED AND ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS BOX TO FIT.

THE FRONT EDGE OF THE SEAT WILL SIT ABOUT 1/2" HIGHER THAN IT DID FROM THE FACTORY WHICH IS NOT NOTICEABLE.

THE FOLD OUT PLATFORM AND STORAGE LIDS MUST BE REMOVED ALONG WITH THE LATCHING HARDWARE FOR THIS SUB BOX TO FIT.

Recommended subs for this box.

This is not impossible ! I have two Type R 12's under my rear seat. They are in a fox box. The Fox Box is actually made to play with type R's. They fit perfectly and the cubic feet is just perfect for them. If you speak with Joe Fox (the owner) he will tell you that he has tried many different set ups and the type R's sound the best in the box under the seat in our rams he actually owns one himself.. Any questions or pics wanted just ask !

I would like to see a pic! I am looking into options on upgrading. I am finding the stock sub to be lacking in "umph" and have been considering adding another under the driver side rear seat or taking the stock one out and add 2 new ones.

Rise Captain, what else did you have to change to add the subs? I am guessing you had to add or upgrade the amp, please some details!!

Thanks
