Default Anyone tow with new 6.4 Hemi Yet?

Just picked mine up last week and already love the power, even though I haven't really pushed it yet since it's new. I have a 500 mile trip coming up in April, towing my travel trailer, and just wanted to know if anyone has experience with it yet?

Good luck with the new truck. I am curious to know what gearing you have and the specs on your trailer?

I have 3:73 gearing. I'm towing a 28ft Wildwood travel trailer, weighs about 5700 LBS dry. I wanted 4:10 but I figured I could live with 3:73 since the truck has everything else I wanted.

Man, that's great to hear. Did you pull backhoe over any hills. I live in California and go to the desert and mountains for camping. Last truck I owned F-150, crawled up at 35mph and nearly overheated on me.

I have towed 8000lbs but for a short distance on an oilfield site. Not a real highway run but it did move it around bad roads with no drama.

I was also set on getting a 4.10 truck until I drove a 3.73. The 6.4 has balls where the 5.7 doesn't and the 3.73 is just fine. I'd still get 4.10's if I had a service body or other constant weight on the truck.

I'll be running my new truck (2014 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi) through its paces in about 2 weeks. I'll be towing my 6000# TT about 500 miles one way, 1000 miles total. I'll also be going up a pretty decent hill called the Tejon Pass on I-5 in California. I'll make sure to come back and give my feedback on how the truck drove. I'm sure it will do fine, just worried about the MPG's.

Finally got the chance to tow with my new 6.4 hemi! It handled like a dream. Only down fall was obviously the MPGs. I averaged 8.2 on the way up to Yosemite and 10.3 on the way home. It was a 1000 mile round trip. Met up with guy who just happened to buy a new 2500 with the Cummins and he said he got about 14.5 MPGs. I had about a thousand lbs I the bed and towed my travel trailer loaded to the gills at about 6800 lbs. I just wanted to give anyone that maybe thinking if they should get a diesel to really give the 6.4 a good look. The power was more than plenty for what I have and it did everything I needed it to.
