2014 status updates - where are you?

According to my dealer I am at D1. Anyone know what exactly that means? I emailed CS on tuesday and they sent me a VIN. My order was placed 7/5 for a CC sport 2wd, no air ride.

Has anyone progressed past D1 yet?

Here's some pics of MY new truck:

It finally stopped raining enough to get a dry shot.

It is a 2014 Ram 1500 Quad cab 4x4 5.7 Liter Outdoorsman in Bright White with Light Frost/Canyon Brown premium cloth interior.
Additional options I ordered: Comfort group, rear camera and park assist, 5.7 Hemi, 8spd trans, rear defrost, Premium NAV, 9 speaker stereo, single CD, 4 corner air susp, RamBoxes, trailer brake control, spray-in bedliner.
1st shot is normal ride height.
2nd shot is the truck in entry/exit height. (all the way down)
3rd shot is the truck at off-road 2 height. (all the way up)

I love this truck!

D to D1

I ordered my White EcoD Laramie 4x4 on the 8th of Feb, and I'm still at D status. I think it depends on the options and color as to when yours will reach D1 status. Some that have ordered after me have reached D1 already. Good Luck! Hope you have the magic combination of order options to get a quick build.

If you want the "aftermarket" back-up camera to be always on then I would suggest that you separately wire this into an "ignition" hot wire, however you would only be able to do so with an aftermarket mirror as the stock mirror would probably be tied into the Uconnect system.

:eek:fftopic:Guys, with all due respect, this thread is long enough. Why take it off topic???

spp is doing us a big favor in looking up the status of our ordered trucks. It isn't fair to him to make him wade through discussions about back up cameras. I do appreciate the questions and the discussion and quite frankly it is worthy of its' own thread.

Agreed...I am just too used to my Facebook "Groups" where everything is in one feed with comments threaded on topics. I forget about this old school bulletin board style where you have to start new threads. Sorry!

#2,424 ·
Were any of you guys able to change the exterior color or interior color of your truck after you placed your order and still in D status?

I just got off the phone with my dealer and they seemed like they did not want to help. So I called Ram themselves and they said they have to speak to their supervisor to see if they can change it. I mean really it is a color change! The automatic sprayer simply has to change colors and instead of the tan/beige interior just switch it for the black interior. I'm not trying to add or delete any options.

Agreed. How can you possibly be incurring interest and paying insurance before taking delivery???? You previously posted something about the dealer making you come in and complete some paper work so that you can keep the Feb. incentives. Did you not know that you lock in your incentives when you order? And if they go up and you then take delivery during that incentive period you get those. Your dealer isn't very honest. It sounds to me that someone at that dealership wanted to get an extra "check mark" next to their name on the white board for Feb. It sounds like you have a loan. How was that processed without the MCO? Certificate of Origin. Do the dealers get those ahead of vehicle delivery? Did the dealer already register the vehicle for you?

Doesn't make sense....

Okay fellas, no need to get your briefs in a bunch here! There is nothing saying you cannot purchase a vehicle in full when it is ordered ... or anytime from when it is ordered until when it comes in. The decision to do so is dependent upon individual circumstances. We did not have to put a penny down when we ordered and the order was marked as sold. This is because our dealer knew he could trust us to take delivery. When we ordered the incentive available was $1500 consumer cash... moving into February it doubled to $3000 and then combine that with a $1000 loyalty incentive it meant $4000, which I really didn't want to take a chance on loosing.

The ETA was continually being pushed back (starting from Feb 17 to March 10 in daily increments here and there) until it was apparent that the delivery would fall well after the expiration of the $3000 cash incentives. My dealer said he had no way of knowing what the March incentives would be; but did say it is always possible for them to go either way. At that time we were looking at only an ETA of March 4 and gave the option to come in and do the paperwork before the truck arrived and if the March rebate was higher they would just cash out the difference to us. But if they were lower we would have to accept the March incentive OR the $1500 that was there when we first ordered. As we were initially looking at a difference of 7 days from signing to delivery, with excellent APR, and nothing to lose, other than possibly the $3000 consumer cash. So for a 7 day crossover it was not an issue.

I contacted my insurance company prior to doing the deal to see the best way to proceed. The underwriter determined as I was still able to drive my original vehicle and there is a 10 day grace period to cover a new vehicle, I could opt to not cover the truck. It was pointed out however as the truck was in our ownership and if it were damaged in transit the transporters insurance may not have to cover it as they did not have a contract with me to transport. Another scenario would be if I would have damage to my original vehicle and the new truck, the existing policy would only pay for the damage on one of the vehicles. The amount of money paid was cheap for the peace of mind provided, even knowing the odds of something happening are probably next to zero. But if it does we are covered, and believe me... if I didn't have it insured... something would be sure to happen.

The only reason I am grumbling at all is because I have once again been pushed back on the ETA. Sorry if I offended anyone by posting.

Apparently a good move

....My dealer said he had no way of knowing what the March incentives would be; but did say it is always possible for them to go either way. At that time we were looking at only an ETA of March 4 and gave the option to come in and do the paperwork before the truck arrived and if the March rebate was higher they would just cash out the difference to us. But if they were lower we would have to accept the March incentive OR the $1500 that was there when we first ordered. ....

Upon calling the incentive line this AM to see what the changes were for my area... the incentive is still the $3000 consumer cash, however the $1000 loyalty incentive is not being offered for March. (had her check this twice to be sure.) So I saved myself $1000 doing what I did.

:aaa:

It's all right guys I know y'all are getting antsy. All the automakers are feeling the strain right now as order numbers are up, suppliers are stretched, and the extended winter seems to be playing havoc with the shipping schedule. None of this earns anyone goodwill. However, with all of that said, the trucks will come.

As an aside, here's one update for ya (cue The Price is Right "lost" sound...)

  • VON/VIN: ED777901

  • Est Ship: 2/25/2014
  • Currently: QA Check (someone found a bad part in a batch right when it was supposed to be shipped out now they all gotta get checked).

Just shows that 1. Nobody is exempt from the QA process and 2. It's funny (to me at least).

It's all good as I know it will arrive, eventually.

Let me try to help. Had a chat with some people "in the know" and the reason for the shipping delays is because of a shortage of Rail Cars. It is a direct result of this years winter. Since the shortage, all the cars (there are GM products as well) and trucks and tons of vans get stuck in these storage lots (All of lots in Windsor and Detroit are full) So even trucks that are to be shipped on a truck, they can't get to these units because they are buried deep in the storage lots. Trust me...they are doing the best they can but as long as massive storms keep popping up, this won't get any better. Once the flow of rail cars gets back to normal the sooner you guys will get your truck.

Ordered Jan 27th...built Feb 20th...WAS to be delivered March 3rd... delivered Feb 28th...I pick her up Tuesday.
Black longhorn, loaded:smiley_thumbs_up:

Makes sense but this also has a double edged sword. This also slows down parts and supplies to build the trucks. I am sure part of the shortages for the Longhorns has to do with delays in shipping due to weather related causes.
