Question Receiver Wiring Kit Installation?

I just bought a new 7 Blade and 4 Flat Multi-Tow Hopkins wiring kit for my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. The one that came with my truck is not the right plug in for my horse trailer. Does anyone know or have the wiring diagram for the wires pre-existing on my truck? I tried all data and found nothing. Does anyone know the color code for the wires in my truck? Is this the right kit? I got it from Advanced Auto Parts and they said it is but it has a 4 flat connector that is suppose to connect the Right Turn signal, Left turn signal, and tail lights. does my truck have a place to plug that into already or am i going to have to cut off the connector and just connect its wires to my truck wires? any help is appreciated!!

I assume have a 6 pin connector on the truck.. either way doesn't matter... pull the socket the truck out, usually removes with couple of screws or a nut on the back side. One you can get to the connector, just unscrew the terminals for each color witch matches your flat pin.

If you have a trailer sales or rental facility in your area you can get an exact match wiring harness for around $25.00.

It plugs directly into the factory plug where each taillight is connected and removes cutting and or splicing the original wiring on the truck.

It looks like this:

It's an in-line plug on each side. Unplug the trucks taillight, plug the harness in, plug the taillight back into the harness.

To answer your question, no I'd have to pull my taillights to check the colors.

Let us know how it works out. I've hard wired a few vehicles in the past with a probe light to check for current/operation, but this kit makes it a 5 minute job.

Well I'm horse broke right now so i cant afford the wiring harness to plug into my tail lights but I do have a testing light so ill probable just wire it to the existing wires, it will just take longer but I have access to a heated shop with lifts and every tool known to man kind so doing it the hard way wont be so bad.

You used to be able to buy the adapter at Walmart or any auto parts store for like 5 bucks
