So my truck just it about 92000 miles and I figure be for I get my headers I figure I better replace the little things now before it's to late.. Anyways I'm wondering what all I should replace and I'm confused we're to start.. I want to get all new break bads and disks but don't know what a good brand is.. Also want to get all new shocks and want to know what brand is a good one.. Got the truck 60000 miles so idk what all needs to be done.
Start with the basics...plugs, air filter, PCV valve, oil and filter change. Brake pads and shocks are a dime a dozen. Everyone has an opinion on all of them. It also depends on your budget. If you have a grand to lay down on pads, then those are available. If not, then go to your local parts store and ask one of the counter guys what's the most popular.
The pcv valve is located in the rear of the engine bay. You will probably have to remove the resonator box (the black box in the middle rear with "Hemi" written on it.)
Once you remove the resonator box you will see the pcv value on the left. If you look at the resonator box it is almost in a shape of the letter T. The pcv will be behind the left side of the T shape.
You will need to turn the pcv value counterclock wise about 180 degrees. It can be difficult to grip and turn. I recommend using pliers to turn it. Once you have it turned you should be able to pull it straight up and out. Replacing is the same procedure. Note it can be a pain to push down and reseat the pcv value when you reinstall it.
When you pull the pcv value the metal plunger should move freely inside the plastic housing. If it is stuck or crudded up clean it with brake cleaner until it move freely.
For tune up, I would check all of your drivetrain fluids. Visually inspect all drivetrain components including cv boot and r&p steering boots.
