Default 2WD or 4WD transmision won't engage issue.

So I was on a muddy road and didn't feel the need to engage the 4 wheel drive until wheels started to spin. Then it wouldn't show engaged but the neutral switch lit up and when I put it in reverse or drive it wouldn't engage or spin the tire. I called repair and was told it may be the converter switch. I had to leave it there because wrecker refused to try to pull it out till road dries more.. Any quick self-help suggestions ? It is my beloved 2010 Ram 5.7 that is having the issue.

So your transfer case is stuck in Neutral? Just keep trying it, I guess. See if maybe it will shift into 4WD mode with key on / engine off.

Well I disconnected the battery and it didn't resolve the transmission issue. Tried pushing buttons with ignition off and then on and I pushed her back & forth pushing 4WD, tow-haul button and just messing with all the buttons and it finally engaged in 4 lock mode. No further issues. Lesson learned was if in doubt whether to put it 4wd or not, will be 4WD while moving. Thanks for the help fellows. By the way, I'll be shopping for some mud tires.
