Default power steering issues

Need some help with a power steering issue 93 w350 5.9 turbo, the power steering pump started throwing the fluid out the cap every time I turned the truck off. It seemed to work fine when it was running (easy to turn), but as soon as the I turn the truck off it would throw the fluid out the top, it was not overfilled. I replaced the pump, and it has not thrown the fluid out the top (yet), but it is hard to turn, as if I didn't have power steering, no noises, or anything out of ordinary. Any ideas on what the issue could be.

if you steer with the truck off the steering reservoir will overflow. did you jack up the front end and turn the wheels lock to lock with the engine running?

As far as the overflowing goes, truck was not steered with it off, it would happen every time I turned the truck off until it emptied the reservoir. You can hear it gurgling. After installing the new pump, it seems to be getting easier, I am thinking it has some air in the lines?, This has happened before, back in feburary, same issue, after a while the new pump worked fine and no overflows, then the other day, it started again. Is it possible the steering box or some other component in the system is causing the pump to go bad? Or is it just the the reman pumps from oriely's are not any good, and I should replace it with new napa/car quest part.

What are you using as fluid?

Did you purge the system (Full turns) completely after repair?

Some people use ATF but I recommend against it. It has a tendency to aerate with a bazillion bubbles and doesn't work well and offers little protection and a lot of noise. It acts like a bottle of liquid detergent if shaken vigorously for about a minute.

A half full bottle magically increases to about 3/4 and gives a false reading after being run.

I did notice that there is a lot of bubles/foam in the reservoir when it was overflowing, the fluid has always been power steering fluid from a seal container, could the issue be with the integrated filter?, would a non filtered pump with an inline filter be any better?

Well for me at least I'm willing to admit that it's somewhat of a stumper (not stump3r).

I believe that the filter was integrated into the steering components to both catch debris and to minimize bubbling. Again, I admit that I'm not sure.
