I got a 5.7 CAI today and wanted to clean it up before I use it to install on my 4.7. After I get it finished to show ya, I will post photos of it. I compared my new 4.7 and older 5.7 and the air boxes are the same size. The tubes are different in size, 3.0" and 3.45" in diameter.
Back to the 5.7 intake. It was used and showed its age and time on the finish, so some attention was needed. If your CAI pipe has a dull finish or water spots, then you only need to go to walmart and get their Mothers aluminum polish for about $3. Light rubbing with a terry cloth and a small dab of the polish will pop your eyes in no time.
I have the photos of the CAI pipe showing the re-polished top and untouched bottom. In a few minutes the pipe comes back to the factory shine with little effort. You probably will want to do it in place without dissassembly. THis is possible because the K&N pipes are not lacquered.
Hope it works for you as well as it did for me, enjoy Woody
