To add to the debate... I'm a bit of a light nut (as I'm well known on another forum) and I run both "old school" (with new technology) round lights and LED lightbars.

For old school (heh) I have Lightforce 240 Blitz HID. I currently own four but plan on selling two as 4 is excessive overkill. These things throw light about 1.5 km down the road in a very useable beam. If you are sitting 1.5 km away from these, you can literally (and easily) read a newspaper with the light these are producing. Unless you are spending close to $1k on a LED lightbar, you won't get this type of results. If you don't know what lightforce is, Alaska State Troopers run a non HID version on their patrol vehicles, and they are very, very popular in Australia in the outback. I was out in Western Canada last year with a pair of the lightforce, driving on a dark highway. Across a valley (about 2 miles through the valley) there are rail tracks- these were so annoyingly bright the oncoming train started flashing his main light at me to turn them off.. I complied and their light stopped flashing.

Led Lightbar - I have a single Rigid 20 inch E series in spot. Shines pretty far (shines about 800 meters) and also throws light to the sides very well.

Led Lightbar - I also have a pair of Whelen Dual Slimline Pioneers which throw allot of light both forward and all around.

And yes, they are all going on my new ram.. Somehow.. I'm hoping to find a pushbar type mount for the round ones, and the leds I plan on mounting above the cab, probably on a truck cap. I may change this up depending on my mood. If I could start all over again I'd run a pair of Lightforce 240 XGT 50 watt HID and also a 20" Rigid Hyperspot at the very least.

I like that setup a lot, where did you get the mount and how did you wire it?

I am debating between connecting to the fog lights or giving the LED bar it's own switch.

The led bar is a sure way to dress it up.

I have the 4 Hella 700s with HIDs, the throw is amazing. Far superior to the cheap led bars I've seen. Haven't been able to compare to a rigid bar though.
