Default headlight reprogram help. dealer doesnt know anything.

can somebody please help me. i have a 2011 ram 1500 slt big horn, and i want to run my low beams and fog lights when i kick on my brights. normally they shut off. somebody told me the dealer can reprogram this. and when i talked to them they said they would if they knew what the was doing. and i told them what i heard and they said well find somebody that has done it and see if they know what was changed and if there was a code or something they programmed in. and i really want this as i hate the headlights. can somebody who has done this tell me anything that might help me get the dealership in the right direction. they said if they try and it messes up my computer or something that its my fault and will cost prolly around 2000 to fix depending on what it messes up. but i know people have done this, i just dont know what to do. or if there is an after market kit i can buy. thanks

It's not possible for a reprogram unless you have a 2009 and a Bullydog tuner.

There's a kit you can buy to do this that includes everything.

Or you can do it yourself and wire in a relay to turn the fogs on when the you turn the brights on and still turn them on/off like normal. Only down side with this write-up is if even if the fogs are off they will come on with the brights(you could wire in a switch from the brights wire to to the relay coil).

What's included in the kit that you would need:

(1) standard relay
(2) wire taps (or t-taps)
(4) pieces of 16 gauge (or whatever you want to use)
(1) inline fuse
a few zip ties

Start off with the relay, I mounted it to the same bolt that holds the back of the headlight in place. That done, I ran the ground wire to the small bolt that holds the bumper to the fender. You'll only need about 6" or so from the relay to that bolt. I ran power to the battery with an inline fuse. Run a wire from the relay to the white wire with green stripe that goes into the high beam housing on the back of the headlight. I used a t-tap here. Then from the relay, drop a wire down inside the fender to the driver's side fog light bulb. Throw a t-tap on the driver's side positive to the fog light bulb (I tapped it to the connector that the bulb plugs into). I used a few zip ties to keep things neat.

The kit is much cheaper than when I did it. I spent about the same piecing the same necessary parts together as what the kit costs now, minus shipping though.

But I know somebody on here had said the dealership could program or reflash the computer with a earopean code or flash or whatever its called. My dealership just said the guy that would have to do it is like 60 and they don't think he can do it without messing up more stuff

Wasn't aware of that. I would find a new dealership if the coworkers are down talking the service guy! lol

It would be cheaper to do it yourself regardless if you have any confidence with electronics.

You can buy a kit on ebay for about 20 bucks that allow you to run Highs/Lows/Fogs all together.
