is the fibreglass tonneau easy to take off if you want to take it off to use the box for something over-sized?

I don't have a tonneau yet, however, from reading on here and experiences that friends have had with them, yes they are reasonably easy to REMOVE. Storage on the other hand becomes an issue, which is why I am leaning towards a rolling or flip style tonneau.

My issue is, if I am out and I find a deal on something I just can't pass up, that requires the removal of the tonneau...where would I store a HUGE single piece of plastic or aluminum?

One can purchase a rolltop type cover that retracts to give you access to the whole bed. with the frame that I had built I can remove four bolts and I can lift my side toolboxes and rolltop tonnea cover off at the same time.

I have the best of both worlds. Mine only weighs about 20 pounds and with a locking tailgate handle no one is getting in. Also my wife can use it as a mirror to put on her makeup. LOL

Errr think I didn't word my reply properly. By storage I meant storage of the giant (bed sized) tonneau cover if you find yourself needing to carry an oversized item. Can't really store it in the Sears Parking lot while you drive home real quick can ya?, lol.

Sorry about the confusion there, hehe.

I bought the old snap style Xtang, and I noticed an increase of 1MPG on a trip at 65MPH.

I do not have one, but the only thing I would like about it is locking up guns and gear on hunting trips, but I also think it defeats the purpose of buying a truck!

Thats why i got the bakflip. I can still haul anything i want. it comes off in seconds and I can take it off myself. So far i have not needed to take it completely off.. just fold the sections you need out of the way. Still have my truck.. locks with the tailgate and keeps the snow out of the bed!

Win - Win - Win.

I bought a Leer Tonneau cover. It didn't have one when I bought it. It took me a lot of looking to find one that I could re-mount the wing and still have it look right. I got it with the remote opener and light.
