Default lets talk HID

hi all, ok, ive been thinkin of getting a HID kit but i need some questions anwsred first

1. where can i buy a kit? i have looked on ebay but all i see is just bulbs and not the full kit?

2. will this do anything to my warranty?

3. what is a good price for a full kit ( i dont wanna get ripped off)

4. what are the actual stats on HID compared to stock bulbs?

5. how much work is it to putting them in? ( can i do it myself, or will i need to take it to a pro to get anything done with the computer)

Thanks everyone

many people on here go with 3Bspec which is a vendor on here, hear they have great customer service and since i have had some personnel experience with them, i would def recommend. There are many many post about HIDs already so i would search the forum and I guarantee all your questions will be answered quickly. plenty of pics to go with the posts. I would say stay away from ebay, unless the person selling has a warranty of their own because you never know what can go wrong with bulbs

The good thing about the new Rams is they have a seperate low/high beam. This makes it much easier in picking a kit since they will all work. If you want to get a cheap kit look at DDM tuning. Now they have kits for like $40 and they have a lifetime warranty. 3Bspec definitely has a really good reputation and good customer service. I have gotten a set of HIDs from them and it was pretty good. The kit from 3B will be like $100.

The HIDs are much brighter than stock. You cannot even see the stock light beam but the with HIDs you can see MUCH MUCH more. You can go with the 35w or 55w ballast. Now the 35w is damn bright but the 55w is even brighter. I have the 55w in my headlights and it is so bright that I can see everythng at night and it looks like day time haha.

You can install yourself in like 30 min - 1 hour. They are pretty straight forward. You just have to follow the instructions and you should be fine.

How much do the HID's blind the other drivers though? I personally am used to puting HID's in cars but in trucks they would be blinding, wouldnt they? I am installing a 2" leveling kit witch would make it even worse right?

JD: As for color temp I would suggest anywhere between 4300k-6000k. By staying in that color spectrum you will have the most usable light.

BiggBerger...just adjust your headlights. You'd want to do that after the level even if your headlights remained stock halogen.

The install is really straightforward, I did my fogs recently, and am doing my headlights soon.

I bought mines from HIDextra. They even gave me replacement bulb in different colors and they will send you the capacitors that is need for the bulbs not to flicker. Just make sure when you connect the capacitors that they are the right polarity. They have medium balast kit now with free shipping for 59.99 with and extra set of bulbs.
