Unhappy actuator door - on the waiting list!

Well, the mad monkey under my dash has been identified, and I am on the waiting list with about 1000 other owners for a replacement actuator door.

I apologize if this is an old topic on here.

Back-order sucks. But at least it will be fixed.

I don't mind the wait so much, but it is embarrassing when others get in and it sounds like an alien is about to pop out of the center of the dash.

Are you talking about the loud thumping sound when you start your truck or use your a/c? If thats what you are talking about pull the lower glove box out and look at the blend door motor behind the center counsel when its making noise. If you see it jump a little its the motor not the door. The motor strips gears inside of the motor case. I replaced mine myself in 5 mins it was 3 Phillips screws. When I pulled the motor case apart it had 5 teeth from the gears laying broke inside the case. If thats the problem I hope your dealer is not telling you its a door and that they will have to pull the dash apart.. I showed the service manager how the motor was moving when it made the sound, he pulled the part from stock and I replaced it in the dealer parking lot and gave him the old part back in the box..

Well, actually, now that you mention it - it is the motor the tech said was the problem. Sorry for the confusion. He said something about the gears hopping over one another because the computer won't tell it to stop.

Sounds like you need the A/C control recall and a new door motor. I dont understand the wait you are having. All the parts are available her at my dealer in San Antonio.

Odd... Maybe my service advisor was smoking the crack when she told the part was back-ordered. hmmmmmm - I call her early next week to confirm. Thanks for the heads up.
