Default Must I lift for 35s?

I have a stock height 09 SLT that I want to put 35s on, but I don't want to run into issues, like fenders. Do I have to lift it, or will they fit just fine?

I don't believe you can't fit them stock but you can fit them with a 2-3" level, which is much less complex than a lift. However for a 35x12.5 you will also want either a wheel with a negative offset or a 1/4" wheel spacer or they will rub. The issue is not with the height but with the width. A 12.5 or really anything over 295/65 will rub without the right offset or a spacer.

I talked to a guy at the local 4x4 truck place. He says that even with the stock wheel offset, 35s should fit under the truck with no wheel spacer, and no rubbing...that would be 35-12.50R17s. I would use the Bilstein 5100s to get the front leveled.

He doesn't know what he's talking about. The widest you can go without at least a quarter inch spacer behind the stock rim is 285. Anything wider than that, it's almost guaranteed you will have rubbing.

An aftermarket rim with a zero offset or so will get you clear.

Trust us on this. We see this question ten times a day.

Yup. He's trying to sell you tires. Once you buy them and he goes to install he will give you the news - "looks like you are gonna need a leveling kit and spacers."

Yeahhh.. You need offset to fit 12.50 wide tires. I have -12 Offset with 35/12.50/17 toyo open country m/t. They just fit in there when doing sharp turns. Stock rims, especially 17" would cause very bad rubbing.

This is how they force you into spacers, then get more money to charge you to remove tires, put it all back together and prob throw an allignment in or something. They could also try milking new rims to you.
