Well, I got my truck back today, service manager told me that it stunk up the service department. They removed all the coolant hoses, flushed the entire system until the water didn't stink anymore (said it took a while to do it), replaced all coolant hoses and filled with new fluid. It's nice to have a truck that no longer stinks, smells like new again.

Did they replace the hoses because Ram told them it was ok, or did they do it just to make it right? My dealership flushed the system until it no longer smelled, but stated Ram had not authorized them to do anything else yet (change hoses). I have a feeling this was a bandaid fix and the smell will return until they change the hoses also.

I think your exactly Right. Demand they change the hoses and even then we are not all sure its the fix! But its the Chrysler Fix for right now.

Just FYI, I have had the Chrysler fix which included 8 new (apparently remanufactured) hoses. Double flushed system, new (apparently remanufactured) coolant (purple). I got 1,500 Km's out of it and it stinks again.

Can anyone else comment on their repair. I see lots of people posting that their trucks have been fixed but no follow-up.

It seems mileage will get the smell to go away. I'm just over 9000 miles and the smell is almost gone.

Maybe there is a break-in time for coolant and hoses now, too? lol

Well, after a week of replacing the hoses and coolant, the smell came back, though not nearly as strong as it was, just enough to let you know that somethings not right. Evidently the same part number hoses were ordered and I guess they have the same reaction to the coolant. There is suppose to be a TSB coming out that's going to list new part numbers for the new hoses. My truck is at the dealer now waiting on Chrysler to give the service manager the new part numbers. In the mean time I am driving a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 rental.

If there was no chance of voiding the warranty, I would go out and put Prestone in my truck after they replace the hoses again. I've never had a problem with Prestone.

I/m sorry I never answered your question properly. The fix was not a dealer fix. It was directed by the Factory Chrysler Rep. So its a Chrysler Fix and I assume its why it took two weeks to get the hoses.

I am getting mine switched out on Friday. New hoses as recommended to my dealer by Crysler rep. I will report back how it goes.

On a side note, my dealer thus far has been really good to work with on the issue. And I love the truck other than the coolant stink, so I am hoping this works!
