One of the reasons that a rear rotor can end up larger than the front rotor is the rear rotor often performs two function, e.g., rear braking and the emergency/parking brake. Thus, the rotor has to be large enough to machine a drum inside of the rotor to fit the brake shoes and springs of the emergency brake.

Default Aftermarket Rotors and Brakes

I have an 08 1500 Laramie. I have recently changed the tires to 35x12.5x20. I am wondering if I need to go with a larger rotor and better pads because of the larger wheel from the 265 series.

I chamfer all pads even if they come without it but I only do a tiny chamfer... I do it just so they don't make noise on the break in period. When I chamfer them they are all different depths and angles & no one comes back with issues for that... just when the back plate accidently rubs.

I also use a product called break in on all new rotors after I brake clean it.

Glad you posted this, was thinking the SRT10 brakes must be huge and direct swap. Any details?

Looking at RockAuto, seems to me you can get the 06 SRT-10 calipers/rotors/pads way cheaper than going aftermarket. They are 15" rotors and 4 piston right?
