Default Fender Change out.

Well I finally got tired of the massive rust hole growing on my front drivers fender so I decided to do something about it. I've worked on a lot of Dodge truck over the years but have never done a fender replacement. Needless to say its a little more involved vs. just taking the old one off an bolting the new one on.

For those that don't know the inner fender is spot welded to the outer fender. So After taking the whole assembly (inner and outer fenders) off the truck those spot welds have to be drilled out to separate the two pieces if your planning to reuse the inner fender. An the battery box has to come out as well as unbolting the fuse box and getting all the wiring loose from the inner fender. So after drilling all the spot welds out and lining the new outer fender with the inner I reattached it using some self tapping screws. since I was being lazy and didn't feel like dragging out the welder. But good thing on the drivers side is there is so much stuff in the way from the battery and fuse box and all the related wiring you cant see any of the screws. But all in all Im glad I did it looks 10 TIMES better than the big rust hole. Now just for a little warmer weather and shoot some paint on it and it will be good to go

Included are of course a before, during, and after pic lol

Thanks! Just did this last summer. Cant tell you how much ABS adds to the "suck-factor" of this job! The plus-side of this job is the chance to replace the rusty brake lines from the master cyl/ABS unit down to the distribution block. Looks good!

I did mine and hated that little fiber panel that goes in the back by the doors.

I dunno...maybe get some lights for the top and the fender will fit right in?

That's a great DIY effort and I'm sure gives you a good deal of personal satisfaction. I swapped one on my Daughters lancer and it's a lot of work.

Oh for sure any time you can do it yourself makes it just a little sweeter once its done. Now to just get the rest of the stuff done to it I want to do, lol
