I have a hemi right now but I only bought it because its a Mega Cab with a 6" lift on 35s so it doesn't look anything like a 1500. Cummins.

Definitely. I've owned both and both work awesome for what I needed at the time. So it's not "better/best" but what you use the truck for.

i agree flatlander its what you use your truck for
i have an 2008 cummins quad cab with 42,000 miles on it used it for towing toy hauler, I am in the process of looking at getting rid of it for a 6.4 hemi or a ford 6.2 gas truck, maintenance on a diesel is quite a bit more than a gas, fuel is more and the trucks now cost $8,000+ more upfront. Now with all emissions crap they are constantly having problems like clogged DPF, EGR issues and so forth and none of that is very cheep to fix. I can't delete i live in a emissions testing area or I might keep mine diesel.

Doesnt matter to me or not if the question is vague....
I have had (in the Dodge Line)
03 2500 Cummins
06 Ram 1500HD Hemi (Solid front axle) Mega Cab
06 Ram 2500 Cummins
2012 Ram 1500 Hemi
2012 Ram 2500 Cummins

All in all, everytime I went from a Cummins to a Hemi I regretted it.... I went from the 03 Cummins to the 06 Mega Cab because my 03 was a quad and SLT whereas the 06 Mega Cab was well.... mega and it was a fully loaded laramie... Regretted it instantly. I went back to an 06 2500 SLT... Then got the new body style itch and bought a loaded SLT 1500 put a 8" Lift and 37s on it... Loved it... For a month. Missed the Cummins so I bought a 2012 Cummins. Everytime I went from a Cummins back to Hemi I absolutely missed the diesel. The fuel mileage, the power, and the shear size was all it took. Although I am in a Powerstroke right now I honestly miss my Cummins. I really dont have to have a diesel, but I can honestly say that I would hate to get back into a gas engine again. The Hemi is a great motor, my family has a new 14 Laramie, but in all honesty there is just nothing like a Cummins Turbo Diesel or any diesel. This is just my opinion. I've owned over 15 trucks in the past 7 years and can honestly say that my favorite trucks were the diesels.

Sorry for the bad typing, I am on my phone..

Personally, I tow light loads (~5000) so my magnum 5.9 does fine, but I would like a 5.9 HO manual for my long haul rig.

On the same token, I don't like the expensive maintenance of a diesel, or the noise, so I'll Keep my Magnum; big low down torque, and cheap to keep going. If I were to upgrade, it'd likely be a Hemi 6.4...
