Default Aftermarket fog lights controlled by stock switch.

I have a set of PIAA fog lights I am going to install on my truck. I want to use the stock switch so they work like the original fog lights did. I am using a relay to switch power to the lights. I would like to use the original fog light wires to control the relay. I think the lights may be on the CAN bus and the relay may not be enough load on the circuit. Does any one know if this is true and if it is what would I need for a resistor to get it working?

I have a 2013 and I don't think the fog lights are on the Can Bus electrical system.

I put HID lights in my fog lights and used a wiring harness which uses the OEM fog light wiring to trip the HID fog light relay. The wiring harness has no resistors and I get no light out warning.

Thanks for the information. I am going to install the fog lights and kit today. Maybe they will work. I am going to do some more poking around with a meter before I put power to them. If they are not on the CAN bus I should be able to use one of the power wires to the original fog lights to control the relay and leave the other original power wire disconnected.

I installed the fog lights today. They work fine using the original fog light power to control through relay for the new lights.

You have pictures of how you installed/wired the lights?

The lights are installed on a Iron Cross bumper. I will try to get pictures this weekend. I do like the lights. They put a lot more light on the road in front of me. The middle of the pattern looks yellow and the sides are more white. The lights are supposed to be fog lights but they don't have the sharp cutoff like other aftermarket fog lights I have used over the years. They surely don't light up the road like LED lights will but I could not find LED for lights I cared for. I am thinking about getting the LED driving lights that the bumper is set up for.
