Default 4" lift 35" tires, how much rake??

After days of looking through the forum's before/after pics I've decided a 4" BDS lift and 35" tire set up will be ideal for me. My truck currently measures 36.75" front (wheel well) and 39.25" rear. I will opt for the 3" rear coil springs, this brings my rake to 1.5" (42.25-40.75). Will this 1.5" rake look ok? or should I look into adding Bilsteins and if so what setting should I use? Are most of you trying to get perfectly level or slight rake? Any info or advice is greatly appreciated.

slight rake is common. perfectly level on the newer rams makes them look nose high.

i think a 4" lift with that 1.5" rake will look good.

if you don't like it, get the bilsteins and set them to the 1.4" setting or the one below it

You'll want to retain at least 0.5" of rake to avoid looking nose high. 0.5" will make it look pretty much dead level to the eye. Personally I would get Bilsteins and set them at 0.7" to make your stance look correct.

Granted, my truck had a half inch more rake than yours at stock, but with the exact same kit and my bils at 2.1, I have a 1" rake.

JMO, but you're already dropping a few grand, you may as well go all in. The bils ride nicer than stock. (stock suspension is too squishy imo) and you'll have the ability to dial in the stance you want.

Are you doing the install or having a shop do it? Also, you should get more height out of this kit than you think. I'm at 43 - 44, front and back.

Thanks for the advice, sounds like the right option. For a little extra $$ having the option of adjustment is probably more than worth it. I've been looking for a shop to do the install as I've only done lifts on old chev's and I'm not sure about the difficulty of this lift. Local shop is wanting $1500-$1800 to do the install, not many options here so I may just have to pay up. By the way Fudrock I seen your truck pics and that was the deciding vote for the 4" lift 35" tire combo, real nice truck.

ha! Thanks bro.

$1500-$1800 is definitely on the high side. I paid $630 for install + alignment.

4WheelParts is the only off road specialty shop around me so I had to hunt for a shop. Wound up taking it to a tire shop that said they could probably do the install but wanted to see the kit first. The fella who installed my lift wasn't familiar with BDS, or the Bils for that matter, but after he took a peek at the truck and the kit and I showed him the snap ring on the bils, he gave me a confident nod and a 'no problem'.

If you've installed lifts in the past and have the tools to do so, I'd seriously consider doing it myself, especially if option b is separating with another 1500 bucks.

Be sure to post pics when it's done. We like pics.

Yes. I have nearly 6" lift up front and 4.25" in rear with this set up.
