I got the 7" kenwood 9980hd in with no issues. Used the metro kit and as someone else stated I had to cut some metal from behind the dash and cut the plastic between the mountain screws of the radio.

Thanks everyone. I am going to try and get my hands on a 7" so there isn't any spacer blocks on either side. Wish the Uconect units weren't so high. I love my kids and the Dodge house want my first born for one of those suckers. :-)

It's been a long time waiting but I finally got my hands on a Kenwood DNX6960 w Garmin Nav and haven't had time to install it yet but so far all the reviews on this unit seem great. Cant wait to get it in and see a screen again. Its hard to go from a double din with NAV and all the bells and whistles to a stocker with pretty much no features beyond Sirius XM.

Finally got it all installed, well almost "all". The sirius car tuner is the new style and mine has the old style that connects to the rear of my Kenwood so I still need to get a $20 adapter cable from Amazon to get my Sirius XM back up and running.

So how did you finally get the metal bracket behind the radio cut? Did you trim it or just cut it out? Just the top was enough or do you have to do a little top/bottom to keep it centered? I'm at this point now and getting frustrated trying to get in there with tools !!

I used tin snips to cut the top part of the metal bracket out out. It's a little tight getting them in there but it is possible. I then also had the cut a slit in the plastic between the holes that the install kit screws to so the plastic could separate enough to slide the head unit in.

I have a small lateral saw that you can place asmall saw blade into. And then I trim the edges with tin snips. It wasn't pretty but it worked.

Got it to fit, thanks !! I didn't cut all the way thru the top bracket but most of the way. This let me bend it up yet kept enough connected to support the center of the dash. I noticed how much the dash moved when I took that center screw out so didn't want to cut it completely out.

Now to find a place to ground the amp? Looks like the seat bolt but have to find a lug big enough to fit over the bolt

Then the speaker wires into the door?? Looks like a bulkhead connector so I can't just snake a wire thru the grommet? What did you guys do?

I'm still running stock door speakers off the head unit. Have my amp under the back seat with my speakers
