Default Magnaflow muffler break in period...

Hey ya'll, I just bought my first truck (2014 Ram 1500 5.7L 4X4)...

shes only got 600 miles on her and today I just installed a 1-in/2-out 14" Magnaflow muffler..

I know that these mufflers has some sort of break in period and i was wondering what to expect..

How long is the break in period? And how much louder will it get over that break in period?

Will it be noticeably louder 6 months from now? Or is it just a small increment in sound?

Its fairly loud right now, but just not loud enough for me still...

so if after the break in period, it isnt loud enough then i'll delete the resonators..

-Nick

I speak for complete catback systems as I've never done just a muffler upgrade on any vehicle, so this may or may not apply to your application.

It "appears" to be louder because the tone [Hz] changes; as opposed to the output [SPL]. Some are more evident than others. Past experiences have shown me that right around 2K of mileage accumulated after the fact is about the lock in period.

Definetly gets louder, I was quite disappointed at the start but it gets better... it happens slowly, you don't really notice it happening! kinda weird but it changes gradually.

+1 on the gets louder, it will, after coming from flowmaster I was a bit disappointed at first w/14 magnaflow, but after 8 months it seems much more aggressive sounding, I think because of the magnaflow design in cab its not very loud. I really like when my wife leaves the house in the truck and she opens it up im really pleased. try having someone else drive your truck while your behind it so you can hear what other people hear

+1 on having someone else drive it. I didn't think mine was as loud as it is until I heard my wife drive it away one day. And after hearing that I really liked it. Plus it will get a little louder over time. I have had mine for a couple months and a couple thousand miles and it has gotten slightly louder

Why would anyone care what other people hear?

When "other" people contribute to my purchases, financially, then I'll give a squirt about what they hear.

I think he meant so YOU (as in yourself) can hear, with no regard to what other people think. Just to what they listen to on the outside.
