Default 2013 HID fog question

Hi,
If I install hid's on my fogs (2013 ram) with digital canbus ballasts, do I need capacitors to make them work?
Im using regular hid's right now with capacitors, but I'm asking myself if I get the digital canbus ballasts would I still need the capacitors

Thanks

Lou

Why do you want to change something that works? Are you changing from 35 watt to 50-55 watt HID's?

I have DDM Tuning 35 watt HID lights in my fog lights and just have them running on a HID wiring harness to the battery from DDM. I needed the wiring harness to keep the lights from flickering. 7 months no problems. No Canbuss ballasts/resistors/capacitors/error cancelers installed in my setup.

One side tends to flash a couple of times before staying on. I don't use them very often, maybe that can be a reason it's starting to do that, cause once they're on and I guess have warmed up a bit they work fine. I turn them off and in a couple if times and no flashes, they usually flash when I haven't used them in a long time and turn them on for the first time. I don't want to have problems in the future that I could have avoided today. That's why I was thinking of installing digital slim canbus ballasts

It sounds more like a lose connection or some corrosion problem with that one side.

Forgot to mention, it's both sides, one day it was the left and another day it's the right. I'm hoping it's just a connection/corrosion issue, I'll have to take them apart and see

I have a canbus 35w digital AC ballast in the fogs. No flickering, no error codes, no problems as of yet... Works fairly good. I believe the new rams now have the fog lights running through the canbus system.

Well 55W would have a lot of light output. I am wondering if they might have too much glare? I suppose it depends on where you use them, outside of the city then I would imagine they would be safe. My only reason for not getting 55w was reading that in order to use a 55w kit then you should be running a relay harness to the battery. Reason being is that could be a lot of power when you start them up, not sure how good the stock fog light wiring is. But from the research I have been doing the new ballasts these days are fairly efficient and they don't draw much more power on startup compared to how much they use normally. Older ballasts used to draw a lot of current to start the bulbs, and stock wiring had problems handling it. I am not an electrician or a mechanic so don't quote me. Just relaying the information I was able to find out when doing the research for myself.

The reflector in the fogs will cause to much flaring with 55 watt HID
