if you do not need a diesel you are better off with a gasser.

agreed with both previous posts... it all depends on your needs right? hell, i didnt really NEED a truck, but wanted one. I had no need for diesel, so i went gas. but if i was towing/hauling alot of stuff all the time, well... then i would have definitely got the diesel.

If i didn't have a factory lifetime drivetrain warranty on my '09
i would consider the 2014.5 Ram 1500 Quad cab w/ the new 3.0 diesel
my work does not involve towing, but i usually have a load in the bed
i have 97,700 miles on my Ram, or i did before yesterdays work

It won't be long at all before i turn 100,000 miles, a picture taking milestone

Read your last post about making money with the truck. I would assume you are looking to buy used? A new 2500 diesel would be a pretty penny. More than even I would be willing to spend unless I owned a business. That being said, if you can get a used 2500, it would be better for snow plowing, hauling, etc.

I love diesels too..But you got to look at the reality of what your hoping to do with the truck. 1500's are perfectly capable for tons of things.. If your planning to tow, plow and go all out and make a career out of it... you would want a 3/4 or 1 ton. But if you just want a truck and do the odd money making job on the same.. More then likely a 1500 will do fine. Also Snow removal beats the hell out of a truck too with plowing and heavy full salters which are also a few grand for them, plus the mounting equipment for plows. Worked for a snow removal company before.. Terrible hours and a pain when stuff like blowers break.. or power steering pumps, on 2 different plow trucks.. The same day 3 blowers went.. In the biggest snowfall of the year, 27.5 hour shift straight for me and my bud who was my shift partner.

Diesels also come with much more expensive maintenance and repairs then a gas. So you have to work out the benefits and downfalls of your intentions with the truck.
