Default Gear Oil

Was thinking of changing my gear oil in my ram 1500. I know the weight of the synthetic oil I am to use but was curious on name brand of gear oil that they would recommend and where to buy it in central alberta Canada.

Thanks

Gear oil is the one place i wont use synthetic. Dino tends to disipate heat better IMO. If you are going to use synth use one that is a true synth. Royal Purple, Redline, Amsoil, or the like. Just for the record, i do not recomend mobil one, most will though.

No need to add the additive with Amsoil.

Thanks a lot got the diff oils changed yesterday. for the 6 bucks I added the additive anyway.

So now my next question would be is when should a guy be doing a transmission and transfer case oil change.

Thanks

Hey hutch74!

We recommend using Pennzoil Synthetic Gear Oil for your Ram 1500 differential. It can be found at your nearest Canadian Tire or NAPA auto part stores. Please remember to add additional limited slip additive should your truck has a limited slip rear end.
