Another review for this thread...
Installed Y pipe and 18" Magnaflow yesterday. Deeper idle but not loud. Great sound on the throttle. Not super loud but exactly what I was after. And in a few months it will break in and be a small bit deeper/louder. Happy with what I chose. I think the 14" would have been more than I wanted for the new truck. There is some interior resonance but its not as bad as my Flowmaster setup was on my prior truck. I would say the 18" is right between stock sound volume and loud. Say on 1 to 10 scale - stock would be a 2. This 18" setup would be a 4 maybe a 5 once broken in. Flowmaster super 40 setup would be a 7. Straight pipes a 10.
Installer cut the pipe right behind cats and ran pipes back several feet. Then merged them with the Y in front of the muffler which he placed on the back side of where the big stocker was. Then stock from there back. Need to adjust the tips back a bit to be flush with the bumper but like what we did otherwise.

Update- much better without resonators and 2000 miles to break the muffler in. Great depth and tone. Not loud. Also did 5" mbpr tips. Very happy.

So is it exactly or near what you were hoping for?
Glad it worked out

Yessir! Very happy with it. As my daily driver I didn't want super loud and resonance. Fits my needs perfectly now.

The 18" won't be loud but after break in of a few thousand miles and removing those resonators it's perfect for my current tastes. Ran Flowmaster Super 40 on my last truck and it was dumped under the bed and was fairly loud.

I'd say give it some time to break in. Cut those resonators out and replace with 2.5" pipe back to the 5" tips. Deepens it some. Also one thing that helped me - have someone drive away from you in your truck a few times. I thought mine was still quiet until I brought it for an oil change and the tech pulled off in it. I was in love again lol.

i'd go with the quieter one, you'll still have great sound and you wont have drone to worry about. just my opinion.

i had the same fear!....i went with the 14" its not too loud when cruising, nice sound when you open it up. it only drones when the MDS is on( really annoying)
(i turn it off anyway) and it hasnt changed my mpg at all!!
its really not any louder than my wifes stock escalade with a 6.0

I'm really torn on these two. It seems like all I do is research everyday. I am currently leaning towards the 14.

I got the 14" and put the Mufflex resonator in as well. Very pleased so far. I know it will get a touch louder as it breaks in and that's ok. I can hear the exhaust inside the cab which is what I wanted, but it's not loud in there. Can have normal level conversation with ease.

Sounds AWESOME outside the truck. If you want to hear it in the cab some, get the 14. If you just want to sound deeper and badder to everyone else then get the 18.
