I am enjoying my Limited. However, if you ordered the tow package, you will get the super sized tow mirrors which will provide unending turbulent wind noise.

Does anyone know if the standard mirrors are direct replacement for the tow mirrors-- electrical connection and function standpoint?

I ordered a 14 Limited with tow package for the trailer brake controller, but do not want the tow mirrors. The dealer said that they would change out with the standard mirrors upon delivery.

Everyone is assuming that they are a direct replacement--memory, heat function, etc??????

Others on the forum have said you're going to lose the power fold function... There is no power fold button on the Limited with tow package. Some have theorized if you replace the mirrors and the internal buttons, and the wiring for the motors that fold the mirrors is there already, you'll get the fold option.

If it were me and I'd orderd my truck recently, I'd just tell them I wanted to reorder. Let them sell "you" current truck. I almost did that with mine a couple of weeks after I ordered. I was having second thoughts about 4WD.

If I only loose the power fold, no problem. I have never used this on other trucks.

My tow mirrors are dead silent. So far you're the only one I've heard of with this problem.

Yup, what Darwin said above. Everything will work except the power fold option.

Sorry, but your statement is incorrect.

I have tasked my dealer over the very 'noisy' tow mirrors on my CC truck. They responded by having me drive a number of tow mirror equipped trucks with the dealer technician along. I also drove a new Ram CC with the standard mirror for comparison. Result? There is absolutely no question in my mind or the technician's that the tow mirrors create serious wind turbulence resulting in heard wind noise. Additionally, this wind noise resulting from the tow mirrors is a KNOWN FACT by Ram as corroborated by my dealer. What really disappoints me is that for 2014, they did not make a redesign of the mirror and just pushed out the defective design on unsuspecting customers.

How can you tell me my statement is incorrect when I said MY truck is silent and that you're the only one that I have heard of with the problem. Don't be so arrogant.

I owned a 2012 1500 with standard mirrors for 10 months and put 26,000km (16,000 miles) and now own a 2012 3500 with tow mirrors and have 5000km (3000 miles) on it driving the exact same route that involves 80% highway driving and I can say there is absolutely no difference in wind noise between the two trucks. I'd say that the amount of miles I've put on in real everyday driving is a far better comparison than your few little test drives at the dealership.
Plus if it really was as big of a problem as you seem to think it is there would be a ton more information and complaints about it on the forum and like I said, you're the only one that I've seen bitching and making a big deal about it.

Default No problem with my mirrors

I have a 2011 Laramie 2500 crew cab with the same mirrors. I have no wind noise problem. I also have a Limited on its way,and ordered the same mirrors.
I test drove a Longhorn with the same mirrors, and saw no problem!
