Default New Here, New Ram, Exhaust Help?

Hello Everyone,

New to the forum, and I just recently purchased a 2014 Ram 1500 Sport. I'm interested in upgrading the exhaust, but I'm only looking for a minor sound increase. I was thinking a flowmaster 70 series, but I have some concerns about which model to purchase. Does anyone know off hand the inlet/outlet diameters, and offset? I haven't had time to climb below the truck to find out for myself. I just know it's a single in, dual out.

Any suggestions for mufflers, or kits, is greatly appreciated. I've attached a picture of my new baby.

The stock exhaust is 3" inlet and dual 2.25" outlet. Most aftermarket mufflers that you'll find are 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet which will work.

In regards to your thoughts about upgrading your exhaust; are you looking more for sound or performance? If you're just looking for sound (and don't want it too loud) then the Flowmaster 70 series is a good choice. But if you want a little more performance then take a look at the Magnaflow 22" muffler. It will also be quiet (only slightly louder than stock) but will breathe a little better as it's a straight through design.

I would do a straight thru design like a 22"/24" Magnaflow muffler. Chambered mufflers (like Flowmaster) don't flow as well.

I have the mufflex 18" sitting in the garage to go on my 14. Nice way to go without permanent modification.

You probubly wont be able to tell the difference with the 70series.
If your wanting more sound, go atleast a 50 series, and even then it wasnt much different.(i had a 50 on my 05 silverado 5.3)

If you want something that sounds and flows good without being too loud, id go 18" magnaflow.
Youll need 3"in and 2.5 dual out

Good luck!!

A 50 Series is pretty loud on a newer Ram. I had one on my old 4.7 and that thing roared; especially around 2000 rpm. There's a sound clip linked in my signature below if you want to hear it.

Thats strange.. i know theres 2 or so 50 series... i dont know which one i had. Got it for free from my grandpa and figured id try it out and there was barely any difference. Even under WOT.

I just listened to your sound clip, much better than mine on my 05 5.3 lol

Correct, I think the older 50 Series was replaced by the 50 Series HD which is louder. I believe that's the muffler that came with my cat back system. I'm not sure if Flowmaster still makes the original 50 Series or not.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I've decided to go with the Magnaflow 22" based on everyones recommendations. I'm sure I'll like the tone and volume since I've read about 100 positive reviews for this set up.

See you on the forumz.
