Default Integrated Trailer Brake

How hard would it be to add the Integrated Trailer Brake?

I found the controller on ebay, but curious if anyone has added these after the fact?

They are incredibly easy. All you require is the switch, module and the vin to be reconfigured after the option code has been added

Do all the 2013s come with the brake modules under the steering column? It says they're required for the module.

i'm not 100% on it, but i'm sure if you have any kind of towing package the module would be there. Mine had the classIV so the module was there...quick plug and play, a reflash and she was good to pull

I assume you have to have the dealer do the reflash right?

Im probably going to buy the module off ebay and install it myself, (probably save me some cash over having the dealer do it).

Hopefully they can re-flash it when I take it in for recall updates.

ya, dealer has to add it to your package list on the puter

i ordered it when i bought the truck. it was part of the "oh, and i want" deal
i'm assuming it just came with the switch like you're finding on ebay (i looked them up when i had my '11) . I haven't seen the instructions that came with it either but i'm thinking what the module that they list as required is probably what has the plug the controller attaches to. hopefully someone that knows the innards on this will toss out something concrete

I went through this today as I tried to have my aftermarket control swapped from my other car to my 2013 Dodge Ram. Because it's integrated into the CPU the dealership has a part in it. Not sure what Ebay is charging but I pinched a fit at the dealer and got the part installed for a total cost of $266.

Just looked at eBay. Looks like I paid 80 bucks for labor. I'm happy. It took the dodge mechanic an hour and a half to do it. The service manager said they have to pull part of the dash off to do it. For 80 bucks I'll pass on it. I'd probably damage something.

Would this be as easy as a plug n play?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/200912068733...84.m1423.l2649

Then take it to my dealer and have them program it for the trailer break? Im assuming I have the connectors since I have a hitch and have towed boats n what not.

Look for your wire connecters first
this video is using a NON OEM brake controller
this video will show where you will find the connecters, if they are there on your Ram

2013 dash removal for access to the radio or brake controller
There may be one more screw to remove, IF you have a 115 vac plug
