Default gears question

I have a 03 4.7L 2wd with a rcx 6" lift, and 35" fuel m/t tires. Just wondering if i really need to rebuild my gears, will i really benefit from it? Will it help my tranny last longer? And what/where can i get the gears from if i do need them. I will be installing myself. I wont let anyone touch my truck.

it'd be good to know what gears you have now.

it's not terribly necessary, no. as far as where to get them, contact bullysperformance here on the forum, they can get them for you. I'm all for the do-it-yourselfer, but I'm going to assume you know your way around trucks pretty well if confident to tackle your gear change. As much as I like to do simple things on my truck, i wouldn't be comfortable doing gears myself.

Anyways, let us know what gears you currently run, your MPG, and how your truck rides now...and let that determine whether you need to re-gear. Fortunately you only need to do the rear because you are 2wd

I get about 12city/15hwy. I dont know what my gears are currently set at, not shown on the sticker on the drivers door, under the hood, or in my manuel. No idea. It rides pretty good, i can feel the weight of the tires when i steer though. Sometimes feels like im pulling a trailer.

Talk to Moe's performance, they helped me with my gears. I have an 08 ram. 5.7 , running 35s. Truck was just a little sluggish taking off. Had factory 3.55, went to 4.56 gears, big differance.
