Default Door Jams

What do you use to clean the painted portions of the door jam? I used to use baby wipes but when I said I was going to buy some my wife said we don't have babies any more and that I am crazy. so what does everyone else use?

I use water/oil soap for all surfaces that aren't cloth. So basically on everything except the seats, carpet, and headliner. I just use a cloth or old white tshirt.

agreed here.

the paint in these areas is often thinner than the rest of the truck..BUT..you could do this once...then maintain it properly.

polish them with a finish polish to get them nice and clean. im sure there will be little scratches in there from the gravel and crap stuck to the bottom of your shoes.

then hit the polished areas with a good long lasting paint sealant (different than a wax) and top it with a couple of coats of wax.

this is the foundation/prep to keeping these area looking great.

then for routine maintenance, wash it when you wash the rest of the truck. (you could also get away with warm water in the area to clean it). just dont use dishsoap ((it will strip waxes and sealants) unless you plan on starting the entire process again.

then use the QD or another awesome product (DG aquawax) to maintain it.

I am pretty anal about my truck's exterior...always washing it. I usually polish it a few times per year. As for the door jambs, I usually just use a semi-clean rag and give it a good wipe down. An old sock or t-shirt works fine. Detail spray would be nice, but just a dry wipe seems more than necessary - besides - who really sees in there? Most people would NEVER think to clean that area - so an occasional wipe down will make it look clean and shiney!
