Default 3rd Gen Bilstein 5100 lift shocks

Hey guys,

My first post here, though the site has been very helpful in the past with other issues I have had.

I purchased bilstein 5100 rear shocks and the front leveling strut for my truck. I am very happy with the product; look and perform great in the rear. However, I am struggling with the front.

My truck is a 2007 ram 1500 Sport 4x4 Crew Cab.

I went to install the front, and my lower coil seat that needs to be re-used did not fit well with the Bilsteins. I think the struts I currently have maybe aftermarket? Monroe Reflex? What I can tell from the Bilstein instructions is that I need struts that the truck came with from factory as that lower coil seat should work.

Has anyone run into this problem before? I would love to get these in, but I am striking out so far. Currently calling wreckers about original oem strut assemblies.

Thanks,

Tyler

I have a 07 Ram 1500 4x4 SLT crew cab. The lower spring seat should be snug around the strut. I had to tap it on a lil bit(maybe cause of corrosion) but should seat up good against the surclip and retaining ring. If it is an after market lower seat that could be your problem, the stock seat shouldnt be that difficult.

ya if your previous struts werent OEM then there is a good chance the spring seats won't work with your bilsteins

Thanks for confirming my suspicion. I will have to source some factory struts or sell the Bilsteins and go a different route
