Default LT's and factory cats?

Anyone running long tube headers and kept the factory cats? I have a y-pipe, muffler and tailpipe all from Magnaflow waiting for install and now I'm thinking about headers.

I know shorties will bolt right up, but I like the looks and power gains of LT's.

I kept the factory cats on with both of my LT installs and it went well both times. They will need to be moved back some so you may need extensions for the o2 sensors.

I found some pics on another forum, welding 3" pipe to the 2.5" stock cats. Looks like it works fine.

Or I could get Pacesetter mid-lengths that look like LT's and have 3" to 2.5" adaptors that weld to stock downpipes/cats.

If your getting headers its is pointless to keep stock cats. You want highflow aftermarket cats and just weld them on with an O2 extension. Why restrict airflow with stock cats if you just spent all that money to open up more airflow....common sense it's a he'll of a drug.

when I first did LT's I kept the stock cats but did as Satin says and opened up the cats to 3" in/out and my piping as well..
