Question Leveling My Truck Without Creating a Rough Ride?

Just about two weeks ago, i got new rims put on my truck and the guys at Tire Barn told me that they would level my truck out too when they aligned it. So they did, using my torsion bars, but i don't know if its because my truck isn't a heavy duty or what but the farthest they could crank it up was within one inch of the rear end. I love how it looks now, it looks great. But it rides so darn rough now and I don't really like that. Is there any way i can raise up my front end without losing a good ride? FYI I don't really want to get a lift kit, but if I did the most I would get would be about 3 inches. I would appreciate anyones help!

Lifting with the torsion bars is notorious for making a rough ride. If you crank them back down and go with a leveling kit and that will take your ride back to the original ride. Lot's of guys run spacers to level and lots of guy go with the Bilstein or Rancho leveling shocks.

he can't run adjustable shocks because he has a torsion bar set up.

I think they make after market torsion keys that do the same thing, but other than that..you have to check to see if the make spacers.

I'm not familiar with the earlier 3rd gen methods. only late 3rds and 4th gen.

you just need to google leveling kits for 2005 and see what comes up

Well, Just grab a leveling kit man. I got a used TCG 2.5" front / 1" rear for 30 dollars, installed it myself. Then got 285/70r17 and xd wheels. Heres a pic

I didnt notice a difference in ride quality.

The only way to level a torsion bar suspension is to tighten the torsion bars or install a leveling kit. A kit will consist of new torsion keys that will only do the same thing as cranking the bars. I'm sure tightening the bars all the way would make for a very stiff ride BUT I find it very odd that they are saying they cranked them all the way and you are still an inch low in the front. I leveled my 04 within an inch of level with the bars and still had 1/4-1/3 of adjustment left. Does your truck have some type of lift block or something in the rear??

Also, you are talking about lifting so I'm guessing you aren't up for lowering your truck but I lowered my torsion bars back down to close to stock and leveled the truck by installing 2" rear lowering shackles. I love it! The truck rides and drives so much better. And these trucks are so high from the factory that it still sits up higher than most other half ton trucks.
