If it can be tuned or adjusted so you can lower when your fan settings come on then yes. I am not 100% on whether that is possible or not. If you go to a 180 and can't adjust when the fans come on then the electronic fans won't come on till over 200+ per the factory temp. I believe a few people have done it anyway since they had both a mechanical and electrical fan.

I originally removed my clutch fan and adjusted the electric fan settings to work with the 180 tstat. After a while I put the clutch fan back on, put the electric fan settings back to stock, and left the 180 tstat in the truck. It seems to work better this way from what I can tell.

Many people don't realize when the electric fan is running it's using roughly the same amount of hp as the clutch fan does(when engaged). So if the fan is running all the time there's no gain.

snrusnak, did does the tstat for the hemi work in the 4.7's as well (the part number listed by the OP)? Or did you just drill a few holes in your stock stat to bring the temp down?

^I think they are different. I know the part number is different. I used a JET brand 180 tstat for the 4.7L. I don't think they list it for the 08+ but the previous 4.7L one works.

I have been considering doing this for a while now. Since I do not have an efan should I not bother?

Interesting. I never would've put that together. Good catch.

Any advice how this will work on the 2013? Nice little easy addition would be nice if it works on the 2013 Ram.
