Default Confused About Lighting

I have a 98 Ram 1500 Quad Cab with the Sport decals going up the rear of the bed behind the rear tires, so I think it is a sport model (that's what the dealer told me when I bought it 9 years ago). I have never doubted this before now. When buying parts I have always bought part for Sport models.

Now, my headlights are yellow and I want to replace them. I was going to get standard OEM lights, but they are just as or more expensive than some of the aftermarket that I have found. Plus, it's difficult to find lights that fit my model year with a sport package. While on the phone with a truck shop they guy said that the difference between a sport model light and a standard model light is the sport model has two bulbs. My truck has only one bulb for the regular driving light for both the standard light and the high beam. This was the first thing that made me doubt. Then, I found a link to check for recalls; you enter the last 8 digits of your VIN and the Dodge website will tell you if you have recalls. I enter my last eight and my whole VIN number pops up with my truck model, but it doesn't say anything about Sport (ok, maybe it wouldn't).

So my questions are:

1. How do I know if I actually have a Sport model truck?
2. Where can I find aftermarket headlight for a 1998 Sport 1500 Quad Cab?

I have tried my local truck shops, jc whitney, some of the wholesale online stores, just not having any luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a '01 Sport and yes thats the way you tell . I would venture to say maybe someone just put that decal on . I can't recall ever seeing that type of decal anyway on a Ram . Might want to try a body shop supply house . Thats where I got mine . About $100.00 apiece .

I called the Dodge customer service number and spoke with one of their representatives. She pulled the information for my truck using my VIN number and she said that my truck does have the Sport group. However, she could not give me any insight as to the headlight issue; What the fit difference is, why some packages have two bulbs and some have one, which have two and which have one, etc. She gave me the number for a local Dodge dealer and asked me to call the parts department there. No help. He reference a parts book and said it didn't show him the differnce. Sounds like since I did not want to order parts from him, he was to enthused about helping me out.

So, I have confirmed that my truck is definately a Sport model. I know that my lights are wired for one bulb for the headlight and one for the corner lamp. I have the fogs lights in my front bumper. Does anyone know if the difference is in the fit?

Also, I heard/read somewhere that one of the differences between the sport and the regular models is in the trim (painted bumpers, color matched grill trim, stuff like this). Can anyone comment on this?

Thanks again guys.

only 99-01 1500 sports have the 2 light set up and a bumper cover, 94-98 sport model has painted bumpers, grill and the addition of sport logos. You can order a regular Ram headlights or just go to ebay. I have these on my 96 and they are easy to swap.
